Qilo
Context
Qilo is a science-based weight loss company operating in Nigeria, Ghana, and the United States. They needed to position themselves as a medically credible solution in an industry flooded with ineffective products and broken promises. My task was to tell Qilo's brand story in a way that built trust with an audience that had been burned before.
My Role Brand Storyteller. I led the social media strategy, content creation, and brand positioning across Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, blog, and email. I also launched three major campaigns (QilosOff Challenge, FastWithQilo, StepUp with Qilo) and managed partnerships with health influencers and thought leaders.
Approach I started with a content audit and deep competitor analysis, followed by intensive social listening to understand how people really felt about weight loss solutions. I defined customer segments, created ideal customer profiles, and built an evergreen content wheel that balanced education, storytelling, and trust-building. The key was making our audience feel safe—our messaging acknowledged their pain points while positioning Qilo as a medically-backed, sustainable solution.
Results

- Achieved consistent 30% email open rates week over week
- Secured strategic partnerships with credible voices like Aproko Doctor, Nicole Chikwe, and Motunde of Lagos
- Built brand equity that converted community members into paying customers and increased company revenue
Key Takeaway
In sensitive industries, how you capture customer pain points is just as important as getting them right. Building trust isn't just about good messaging—it's about delivering on your brand promise at every touchpoint, from content to customer experience.
